Additional notes

  • Straps on amas are there to prevent them from falling off, as the attachment straps failed in heavy seas. (These straps are being replaced by bolts)
  • A rudder extension sleeve is being built. The boat has a lot of weather helm and requires paddle assistance through certain tacks, but jibes very well.
  • A small (18 sq foot) jib is being constructed to increase upwind performance and provide assistance through tacks. Also, it will look good.
  • The sprit sail was less than $200 at Glen-L. They have several small dinghy sails which would work well for kayak rigs.
